BILD Alberta names finalists for top building industry awards

Record number of award entries whittled down to leaders in new homes, renovations and communities.

The Building Industry and Land Development Association Alberta has announced the finalists for the 2026 BILD Alberta Awards, recognizing excellence in more than 40 categories spanning home building, renovation, land development, community planning, innovation, energy efficiency and safety leadership.

“The BILD Alberta Awards highlight the incredible creativity, design and innovation our members bring to every project,” says Scott Fash, CEO of BILD Alberta, which is the unified voice for Alberta’s land development, home building and renovation industry.

With more than 500 entries, the most ever in the award’s history, it’s bound to be an exciting race to the finish. This year, finalists were selected by a panel of 100 industry professionals who honed the submissions down to 124 finalists. Most of the finalist projects were located in Calgary and Edmonton, with Calgary-based projects earning 76 finalist nods, Edmonton pocketing 29, while projects in the smaller centres of Red Deer and Lethbridge earned nine and three finalist nods respectively and Alberta companies enjoyed seven.

While winners won’t be revealed until September at a gala event held on Sept. 12 at the BILDing Forward Together Conference in Jasper, the finalists offer an early glimpse at the companies setting the pace across Alberta’s residential construction industry.

“Our 2026 finalists exemplify the dedication and professionalism that continues to shape vibrant communities and deliver housing solutions for Albertans across the province,” says Fash.

Among developers, Brookfield Residential enters the awards as one of the strongest contenders. It collected a spate of finalist nods across several categories including Best Community Feature, where it’s a shoe-in to win the category taking all three finalist nods for its Rockland Park Oasis Pool, for its Seton Homeowners’ Association The Block and for it Club House at the Orchards in Edmonton. It also took two finalist nods for Best Show Home Parade in Seton Ridge and Starling and for Best Growing Community — Rockland Park and Seton. Starling also earned one of three finalist positions for Best New Community, joining Genesis Land Development Corp.’s Logan Landing and Rohit Group’s Heartwood.

The renovation categories once again feature many of Alberta’s most recognized names.

Ultimate Renovations returns as one of the dominant contenders, collecting eight finalist nominations across kitchen renovations, major home renovations and infill housing. The Calgary renovator earned all three finalist positions in the Kitchen Renovation Under $100,000 category for its Gold and Green, Millrise Modernized and Springbank Modern Classic and added nominations in Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000, Home Renovation $300,000 to $600,000, Home Renovation Over $600,000 and Infill Under 2,500 square feet.

Rusch Design Build is also poised for a strong awards season. The Calgary company hit the top of the charts with finalist nominations in five categories including Bathroom Renovation, Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000, Home Renovation $300,000 to $600,000 and Home Renovations Over $600,000  demonstrating its strength across a broad swath of categories.

Kay2 Contracting from Calgary and Alair Homes, a Red Deer-based company, also return to the finalist circle, while  Carson Built, Legacy Signature Homes, Urban Age Homes, Awlridge Renovations are among those representing the Edmonton region in renovation-related categories.

The competition among new home builders is equally impressive.

Homes by Avi appears throughout several categories, earning finalist positions in both multi-family and single-family, while also receiving accolades for garden and secondary suite design, earning a total of eight nominations, including three in the category of Best Multi-Family 1,400 to 1,600 sq. ft, for its Finley, Magnolia 1 and Sasha models, leading to a guaranteed win.

Building on their wins earlier this year at the BILD-Calgary Region Awards, both Jayman Built (Builder of the Year Large Volume Single Family) and Logel Homes (Builder of the Year Large Volume Multi-family) also emerge as leading forces with Jayman Built earning eight nominations for its single and multi-family projects, along with safety leadership and Logel Homes picking up seven across the board, including a nod for community service.

Earning two or more finalist positions, Crystal Creek Homes, Rohit Homes, Effect Home Builders, Alloy Homes, StreetSide Developments, Singh Builders, Urban Age Homes and Excel Homes also feature prominently among this year’s finalists, highlighting the depth of Alberta’s residential construction sector.

Outside of Alberta’s two largest cities, builders from Red Deer and Lethbridge continue to make their presence felt. Sorento Custom Homes picked up recognition in five single family categories, while Stranville Living Master Builder garnered two nods, one for its Arbourwood Estate in the Single Family 2,000-2,200 sq. ft. category and the in the Single Family 2,800-3,000 sq. ft. for its Meadow project.

Adding another layer of anticipation to an evening that celebrates the best of Alberta’s residential construction industry, five coveted and prestigious Pinnacle Awards, which recognize the industry’s most outstanding builders, renovators and developers will also be announced at the gala. Unlike category awards, the Pinnacle honours are based not only on award performance, but also on leadership, customer satisfaction, community involvement, association participation and safety excellence. Last year’s winners include Homes by Avi Alberta for Large Volume Builder, Red Deer’s Sorrento Custom Homes for Small Volume Builder, Jayman Built Calgary for Multi-family Builder, Vicky’s Homes of Edmonton for Renovator, and Calgary’s Genesis Land for Developer.

Winners at this year’s BILD Alberta Awards can also expect a fresh take on the awards with new trophies.
