Calgary area’s best in the residential industry were recently honoured at the 2024 BILDCR Awards, celebrating innovative companies and beautiful homes and communities.

More than1,300 guests gathered at the new BMO Centre on April 5 for the highly anticipated 2024 Building Industry and Land Development Calgary Region Awards gala. The awards recognize exceptional talent and highlight the best-in-class in the Calgary and area’s residential construction industry.

“We were especially excited to host the awards gala at the recently opened BMO Centre, which provided a spectacular setting for our industry to come together and celebrate the many successes and achievements of 2024 and 2025 so far,” says Brian Hahn, BILDCR’s CEO, adding that this year’s event was one of the best attended in recent years.

The final tally of 70 winners, which includes seven Grand Award winners, are spread across 11 categories — advertising and marketing, developer, industry achievement, multi-family community, multi-family design, multi-family home, single family home, partner, sales and information centre, renovator and sales achievement.

Winners were chosen from an initial pool of more than 750 entries, which were then whittled down to 268 finalists by a panel of over 100 industry judges.

“This year’s winners, including both returning and new award recipients, truly embody the spirit of innovation and excellence that drives our industry forward. The caliber of the winning projects and companies reflects our industry’s continued dedication to not only adapting to evolving consumer preferences, but also pushing the boundaries of quality and design,” says Hahn.

Stepping up to receive a Grand Award were several multi-time winners. A Grand Award is an award of distinction presented to an elite achiever in one of seven categories, including Builder of the Year (four categories), Partner of the Year (two categories) and Renovator of the Year.

Pocketing more awards than anyone, Jayman Built certainly earned its crown as Single Family Large Volume Builder of the Year, as well as collecting 17 finalist nods and nine additional category wins, including Best New Single Family Home Award for its Bentley 24-2 design in the category $641,000 to $690,999.

Also garnering a Best Apartment Style Multi-family Home Award ($701,00 and over) for The Streams of Lake Mahogany Springs 02-0301, this multi-time Grand Award winner took top prize in three out of the six categories for Best New Multi-family Home Designs for three floor plans in its luxury Magna project at University District — Isaac, Leonardo 1 and Frederick — and topped the charts for Best New Home Sales and Information Centre for the same project. Add to the list, Best Marketing Campaign and two Best Townhome/Villa Awards for its Park Place of Lake Mahogany project (Moscato and Prosecco).

Similarly, Urban Indigo Fine Homes reached for the stars to win Builder of the Year Small Volume Single Family. It also picked up three Best New Home awards for its thoughtful inner-city custom home designs in the categories of $541,000-$590,999 (Ellie), $591,000-$640,999 (Evelyn), and $991,000-$1,150,999 (Alabaster). This is the third time that Urban Indigo, a husband-and-wife team, has achieved this distinction.

On the multi-family side of things, another multi-year consecutive winner Logel Homes garnered big wins as Large Volume Multi Family Builder of the Year for the fifth year in a row, as well as earning 20 finalist nods and collecting eight wins in categories spanning Sales Team of the Year to Best Interior Decorating Multi-Family (it took the top three spots).

Renova Homes and Renovations achieved accolades for the second year consecutively for Small Volume Multi-Family Builder of the Year, also winning Best Townhome/Villa up to $450,999 for its Freestone Townhomes in Cochrane.

Also turning heads with its top-notch renovation scores was Crafted Edge Homes, earning the title of Renovator of the Year for the second consecutive year and also achieving honours in six of the eight renovation categories, earning six finalist nods and three wins.

Adding to the excitement, it was anyone’s guess as to who would walk away with New Community of the Year — the five finalists: Lewiston (Genesis Land Development Corp.), Goldwyn Prairie Estates (Melcor), Key Ranch (Lamont Land LP), Southbow Landing (Qualico Communities) and Silver Spruce (Apex Land) are all innovative and deserving. Taking the prize was Genesis Land Development Corp.’s Lewiston, a boutique-style, close-knit, diverse community in Calgary’s northeast.

Moving on to established communities, Section 23 Development’s Rangeview earned Best New Community City of Calgary, with the lake and golf community of Harmony taking Best New Community Calgary Region for the ninth consecutive year.

Integrity Building Products and Brydon Stairs also stood tall, respectively picking up Partner of the Year Large Volume and Partner of the Year Small Volume.
