Finalists announced for Calgary area housing industry awards.
With apt timing as spring ushers in warmer weather, new communities and the construction of a spate of innovative housing, Building Industry and Land Development Calgary Region announces the finalists for the BILDCR 2025 competition, celebrating the best of the best in the residential construction industry. And, it’s an extensive and talented pool of finalists.
“We are incredibly proud of this year’s finalists,” says Brian Hahn, CEO of BILDCR. “Their work represents the very best of our industry and continues to raise the bar for quality and leadership across our region.”
A panel of judges, comprised of industry professionals and marketing specialists, considered more than 800 entries — a record number for the awards, topping last year’s record-breaking number of 750 entries. Entries were edited down to 227 finalists in 11 categories — advertising and marketing, developer, industry achievement, multi-family community, multi-family design, multi-family home, single family home, partner, sales and information centre, renovator and sales achievement. Each submission was evaluated on excellence in construction, design, sustainability, innovation and community impact.
All of the finalists will be vying for the ultimate accolade — a BILD Grand Award, the pinnacle of achievement for the Calgary Region home building industry. This year, seven Grand Awards are up for grabs including Renovator of the Year, and four Builder of the Year Awards — Small Volume Single Family, Large Volume Single Family, Small Volume Multi-Family and Large Volume Multi-Family. Two new awards have also been added into the mix: Enterprise Partner of the Year and Boutique Partner of the Year. The Grand Awards are presented to finalists for their outstanding accomplishments in 2025, from demonstrating top-in-class achievements in design, service, sales, advertising, marketing, safety and customer care.
Leading the pack with 20 finalist nominations is Jayman Built, last year’s Grand Award winner for Builder of the Year, Large Volume Single Family. Showing its versatility and expertise in many areas, Jayman’s nominations span a number of categories from advertising and marketing to best multi-family community for Park Place of Lake Mahogany, Best Townhome/Villa in two categories for its Park Place of Mahogany designs (Moscato North and Prosecco North) and eight single-family home award finalist nominations in categories ranging from Best New Home Up to $434,999 to Best New Home $725,000-$824,000.
Similarly, five-time winner of the Builder of the Year Grand Award for Large Volume, Multi-Family, Logel Homes also lit up the scoreboard with 18 finalist nomination. Like Jayman, Logel’s nominations were also in a diverse array of categories from multi-family home awards that include Best Apartment Style homes in a variety of price categories to Best Interior Decorating Multi-Family, Best Design Centre, Best Sales and Information Centre and Best Multi-Family Community for Waterside at Mahogany. As the only finalist, it’s a shoe-in for a win in the categories of Best Apartment Style-Up to $280,999, Best Apartment Style – $381,000 (The Carr 2) to $500,999 (The Jackson 2) and Best Apartment Style $501,000 to $680,999 (The Atwood 3ES, The Cohen 4XL). Logel Homes picked up the Grand Award in 2024 for the Builder of the Year Large Volume Multi-Family.
Also receiving substantial nominations were Rarebuilt Homes receiving 11 nominations in total in a variety of categories from Best Interior Decorating: Multi-Family to Best Multi-Family Design, Brad Remington Homes with nine nominations for its Multi-Family Designs and Morrison Homes with seven, also in categories across the board from Multi-Family Home Design to Innovation.
Tilting the scales and coming in head and shoulders above the rest in the renovation sphere, Crafted Edge Homes — last year’s grand award winner for Renovator of the Year— picked up eight finalist nods in seven out of eight of the renovation categories. Also showing well, Reborn Renovations, Rusch Design Build and Kay2 Contracting Ltd. all earned five finalist positions in categories across the board from kitchen renovations to whole home redos with and without additions. Renova Renovations, last year’s BILDCR Grand Award Builder of the Year, Small Volume Multi-Family, earned four finalist awards for its renovation projects and another three for its new build product, including Best Town Home/Villa in two categories and Best New Single Family Home $975,000-$1,134,999, making a total of seven finalist nominations in total.
It’s anyone’s guess as to who will walk away with New Community of the Year. Logan Landing by Genesis Land, Lewisburg by Genstar Development Company, Sawgrass Park by Hopewell Residential, Home is in Heartwood by Rohit Group and Esker Park by Shane Homes are all in the running. As for Community of the Year – Calgary Region, Harmony by Qualico Communities and Bordeaux Developments has made it into the finalist corner for the eighth year in a row — they’ve also won the accolade eight times. Could they win again? Harmony is up against some tough contenders: D’Arcy by Anthem Properties Group, Rangeview Springs by Genstar Development Company, Wildflower by Minto Group and Pine Springs at Heritage Pointe.
Similarly, like Harmony, Section 23 Developments Rangeview: Calgary’s First Garden-to-Table Community was last year’s winner for Community of the Year — City of Calgary and it’s a contender again this year, with some tough competition including past winners, Hopewell’s Mahogany, and University District, developed by University of Calgary Properties Group. Anthem Property Group’s Glacier Ridge and Upper Greenwich by Partners Development Group are also in the running.
Winners will be announced at the BILD CR Awards gala to be held at Calgary’s BMO Centre on April 11.
