H.O.M.E. Awards recognize excellence in customer service, residential construction

Finalists in the 2020 CustomerInsight Home Owner Mark of Excellence Awards were glued to their computers on April 7th when the winners were announced in a condensed 15-minute online ceremony.

This year’s winners included single-family home builders Cedarglen Homes, Sterling Homes and Pacesetter Homes, Daytona Homes, McKee Homes and Kingsmith Builders, plus local multi-family builders Logel Homes, Aldebaran Homes and Cedarglen Living.

The annual North America-wide awards were supposed to be presented during a gala in Edmonton, but given the current pandemic, CustomerInsight Inc. director and founder Christian Caswell, flashed the hardware in front of a captive virtual audience.

“We came up with a different format so everyone can focus on what’s important during this time and still honour builders for all their hard work in 2019,” Caswell said during the ceremony’s preamble.

The four award categories are: Best Customer Experience, based on consumer satisfaction surveys at one and 13 months post-possession; Best Trade/Supply Partner, a builder evaluation of contractors; Industry Ambassador of the Year, honouring an individual who’s made a remarkable contribution to the homebuilding industry and to customer service; and Builder of Choice, based on feedback from customers, trades partners and the builder’s internal team.

“For new home buyers, the Home Owners Mark of Excellence represents confidence and peace of mind that the builder they engage with will follow through on its promises,” Caswell said.

Brayden Logel, vice-president of sales and marketing for Logel Homes, was named Industry Ambassador, Canada West, in recognition of his passion, and that of his family, for customer satisfaction, community service and social impact.

Among his many initiatives, Logel and his family are building a residence for 27 vulnerable Calgarians through the Resolve campaign. They support the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter, and Logel chairs the BILD Calgary awards committee, advocating the use of customer service results in award criteria.

“It’s an honour to get this award. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my team and without our continued focus on our customer experience,” Logel said.

Logel Homes won Best Customer Experience for large volume multi-family builders for the sixth year in a row.

“That’s the big one for us because it’s based on customer feedback. It’s the most important award for us to win on an annual basis.”

Logel said he and his team were on a Zoom chat watching the awards unfold.

“It would have been nice to go up and get the award. They did a good job given the circumstances,” he said.
