Calgary area companies show well in shortlist for the annual residential construction awards.
The long-awaited tally is in. The Building Industry and Land Development Association Alberta has announced the finalists for the prestigious 2024 BILD Alberta Awards, which honour excellence across the province in the residential construction sector. Presented by Travelers Canada, the awards highlight the stellar accomplishments of home builders, renovators, developers and industry partners.
“Even amidst a bustling period for Alberta’s construction industry, our members remain dedicated to creating exceptional homes and communities for all Albertans. Congratulations to this year’s finalists for their remarkable efforts in building our communities,” says Scott Fash, CEO of BILD Alberta.
This year, a panel of 130 industry judges mulled over a record number of submissions — 425 in total — culling to 124 finalists, who will be vying for top place in 40 categories spanning new home construction, renovation, community development and safety leadership.
Of the 124 finalists, Calgary and area companies earned 68 nominations, while Edmonton and area companies took 36. The remainder went to either companies that operate province-wide or in centres other than the greater Edmonton and Calgary areas.
Renovation prowess was amply evident in the Calgary market with Calgary projects earning top nods in almost every renovation category. Last year’s Renovator Pinnacle Award winner, Ultimate Renovations, a Calgary-based renovator that also works in the Edmonton market, picked up 10 finalist nods, nine for Calgary renovation projects and one for an exterior renovation in Edmonton. It garnered recognition for its Sovereign Splendour project, a lower-level remake that includes an English pub-style man lair with bistro kitchen, grand fireplace and theatre room, receiving a finalist spot for the Renovator’s Choice Award, joining Crafted Edge Homes and Wilde Homes from Medicine Hat.
Winners will be announced in the fall.
